Biography
My name is Nicole Schefers and I am pursuing licensure in the state of Minnesota as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor. I spent my college career studying how both the brain and systems impact our mental health. I do not believe that we can look at what is happening with an individual without looking at and analyzing the systems they are apart of. I look forward to navigating tough waters with you, meeting you where you are at, and walking alongside you as we work towards where you want to be and who you want to become.
Clinical Interests
Nicole has been trained in TF-CBT (Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and counseling gender diverse clients. She comes from a trauma focused, culturally sensitive graduate program. Nicole’s passion is in working with teenagers, LGBTQI+ youth, and families in conflict.
Clinical Approach
Nicole works from a client centered approach, you are the expert! Nicole takes an interdisciplinary approach as well as pulls from feminist theory, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and systems theory. Nicole believes therapy should be a place that is safe and free from judgement. Nicole prides herself in striving towards a strong therapeutic relationship with all of her clients.
Hobbies
Spending time with friends and family and snuggling up with my cat to watch some reality TV!
