Biography

Katie believes therapy is whatever the client and therapist choose it to be. She often tells her clients that every client she sees needs something a little different from her, and it’s her job to work with them to figure out what that is. Katie believes in being a teammate for her clients, walking alongside them as they explore their experiences, grow, heal, and work toward the life they want. Katie considers it a privilege to hear the stories of others and be a safe person for clients to be themselves with.

Clinical Interests

Katie has experience working with clients of all ages, but now focuses on working with teenagers and adults. While Katie enjoys working with a wide range of clients, she is especially passionate about working with neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ clients. Katie knows how difficult it can be for clients to find a therapist who affirms and embraces their identity, and she seeks to be that kind of therapist for her clients. Katie also enjoys working with clients struggling with trauma, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, and identity development. For clients seeking gender-affirming medical care, Katie is able to provide letters of support to help folks receive the care they need and deserve.

Clinical Approach

Katie prioritizes showing up as her authentic self, quirks and all. Katie believes in meeting clients where they’re at, whether that be ready to dive headfirst into the deep end day one, or needing to slowly wade in. Katie focuses on seeing clients as the whole of who they are, and enjoys learning about not just what brought them to therapy, but the rest of who they are, too. Because Katie believes all clients need something a little different from her, she always starts her work with clients by exploring what they want and need from the therapeutic relationship. Katie loves to bring humor (and maybe a little sarcasm if you’re up for it!) into sessions. Just because therapy can be tough, doesn’t mean we can’t also have a laugh.

Hobbies

Katie enjoys leading a relatively calm and simple life. She loves hiking, reading, jigsaw puzzles, crafty activities, traveling, spending time outside, and of course, watching all kinds of reality TV! She’s very close with her family and often spends her weekends with them.
