Biography
Have you wanted to talk about gender and explore your sexual orientation with someone who understands? As a queer, poly, nonbinary transmasc, Kat found that sharing space with other LGBTQIA+ people helped them better understand and navigate their world. Our identities and feeling connection matter. Therefore, he believes in making representation and community care an active focus in working with youth, adults, families, and couples/polycules.
Clinical Interests
Through their five years of working in mental health, Kat is passionate about therapy as a sharing space. This means that therapy can be a place for hard conversations just as much as laughter and joy! Their interests include gender and sexual orientation exploration, ethical non-monogamy, trauma work, interpersonal/ systemic stressors, neurodivergence, and mental health symptoms. He understands that even in his community, everyone’s experience is unique; his goal is to meet you where you are at, actively listen to your goals, and collaborate on a safe and strong therapeutic relationship to follow you on your journey.
Clinical Approach
Kat prides themself in being authentically dorky while showing compassion and empathy. If you take a while to open up, no problem! Kat is a go-with-the-flow guy and will adjust to your needs and comfort level. While his approach may be soft in nature, he believes in direct communication and collaboration throughout the therapeutic process.
Hobbies
Kat keeps themself busy in their community, working with mutual aid, activism, and youth support groups. Being busy, most of their hobbies change based on their energy. Recently, he’s been enjoying going to local music with his partners. Some of Kat’s current favorite bands include: Bugsy, Anita Velveeta, and D’Lakes! His lower energy hobbies include making art, watching nerdy cartoons, and spending time with his chosen family (and many pets).
